(REGINA) CUPE Saskatchewan President Kent Peterson and CUPE Local 1594 President Leah Freitag celebrated Library Month by meeting with library workers on the frontline to see first-hand the impact of their work.
“Library workers are our friends and neighbours and serve their communities with pride,” said Kent Peterson, President of CUPE Saskatchewan. “Saskatchewan libraries are about so much more than books. Whether it’s sound mixing, support for job seekers, art galleries, children’s programming, or 3D printing, libraries are vibrant resources for people across the province.”
CUPE Saskatchewan represents hundreds of workers in municipal and regional libraries across the province, as well as in school, post-secondary, and other libraries.
They are the backbone of communities providing vital services people rely on.
“It was a pleasure to showcase the work my colleagues and I do to serve Regina community members,” said Leah Freitag, President of CUPE 1594. “This library month I encourage everyone to drop by a library, sign-up for a library card, and thank a library worker for making our communities stronger.”
