CUPE Saskatchewan celebrates library month in Prince Albert

October is Canadian Library Month, and CUPE Saskatchewan is celebrating the important role of libraries and library workers in communities across Saskatchewan.

CUPE Saskatchewan President Kent Peterson toured the Prince Albert Public Library to connect with members of CUPE 1788. Members identified the need for adequate and reliable operating funding to ensure good wages and working conditions for employees. Concerns about workplace safety heading into the winter months were also shared.

“Whether it’s at the bargaining table, through organizing, campaigns, or lobbying, CUPE Saskatchewan fights to make our libraries and communities stronger,” said Peterson.

CUPE members work in school, public, post-secondary and other libraries across Saskatchewan. They proudly manage collections and deliver services, programs, and opportunities community members rely on.
