CUPE 8443 members ratify agreement with Saskatoon Public Schools
CUPE 8443 members have ratified the tentative agreement with Saskatoon Public Schools, following a strong strike mandate delivered by members in May.
“The bargaining committee remained focused on the priorities identified by members and committed to securing meaningful improvements to the collective agreement while protecting our rights,” said Dene Nicholson, CUPE 8443 president and bargaining committee member. “Our members’ encouragement and engagement strengthened our efforts at the bargaining table.”
CUPE 5080 secures groundbreaking wage protections for child care workers
CUPE 5080 members have ratified a tentative agreement between the local and Melfort Daycare Cooperative, delivering significant gains for early childhood educators.
The agreement comes after a challenging round of bargaining, with the parties reaching impasse and CUPE 5080 members delivering a strong strike mandate.
“We are incredibly proud of what our bargaining committee achieved, with the full backing of our membership,” said Sera Jones, CUPE 5080 bargaining committee member. “This agreement brings meaningful improvements and reflects the collective strength of our membership.”
A key gain in the agreement is new language that protects early childhood educators’ wages if the wage enhancement grant is reduced or eliminated.

“On Friday, the federal government announced additional child care funding. This is promising for the many families, workers, and centres across Saskatchewan – especially at a time when Scott Moe’s damaging cuts are about to take effect with serious consequences.
“But this funding will only make a difference if it reaches the people who need it. Scott Moe must ensure these dollars are properly invested in strengthening child care in Saskatchewan.
CUPE 2268 members secure new agreement after delivering strong strike mandate
After a challenging round of bargaining that reached impasse and included a strong strike mandate, members of CUPE 2268 have voted to ratify a new collective agreement with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. The ratification vote was held June 11-13, 2026.
CUPE campaign stops privatization, saves Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre
The Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre will remain in public hands, continuing to be operated by City of Saskatoon employees and members of CUPE 59 once it reopens.
“This is a big win – not only for our members, but for Saskatoon residents,” said Eric Calaguian, president of CUPE 59. “Keeping this facility public ensures residents receive high quality, affordable aquatic services they can rely on.”
