After a challenging round of bargaining that reached impasse and included a strong strike mandate, members of CUPE 2268 have voted to ratify a new collective agreement with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. The ratification vote was held June 11-13, 2026.
“This was a tough round, but our members stayed engaged every step of the way,” said Teresa Hitchings, president of CUPE 2268. “By standing together and keeping the pressure on, we were able to secure meaningful improvements in this agreement.”
The three-year agreement includes:
• 8% wage increase over three years
• Increase to benefits
• Increase to casual employee pay
• Stronger health and safety language, including new provisions addressing violence in the workplace and interpersonal violence
“This is what happens when workers stand together and refuse to back down,” said Kent Peterson, president of CUPE Saskatchewan. “CUPE 2268 members stayed united, put pressure on the employer, and got results.”
CUPE 2268 represents over 1,200 education support workers in the Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
