Statement from Kent Peterson, CUPE Saskatchewan President:
“On Friday, the federal government announced additional child care funding. This is promising for the many families, workers, and centres across Saskatchewan – especially at a time when Scott Moe’s damaging cuts are about to take effect with serious consequences.
“But this funding will only make a difference if it reaches the people who need it. Scott Moe must ensure these dollars are properly invested in strengthening child care in Saskatchewan.
CUPE 2268 members secure new agreement after delivering strong strike mandate
After a challenging round of bargaining that reached impasse and included a strong strike mandate, members of CUPE 2268 have voted to ratify a new collective agreement with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. The ratification vote was held June 11-13, 2026.
CUPE campaign stops privatization, saves Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre
The Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre will remain in public hands, continuing to be operated by City of Saskatoon employees and members of CUPE 59 once it reopens.
“This is a big win – not only for our members, but for Saskatoon residents,” said Eric Calaguian, president of CUPE 59. “Keeping this facility public ensures residents receive high quality, affordable aquatic services they can rely on.”
Support falling short as education workers take on medical responsibilities in schools
New survey findings released today by the CUPE Saskatchewan Education Workers’ Steering Committee (EWSC) show that education support workers across the province are performing a wide range of medical procedures in schools – often without consistent training, clear direction, or adequate support.
The findings were presented today at a media event outside the Saskatchewan Legislature. The province-wide survey, conducted earlier this year, gathered 980 responses from education support workers in 19 school divisions.
CUPE 3730 members ratify new agreement after strong strike mandate
Members of CUPE 3730 have voted to ratify a new collective agreement following a challenging round of bargaining that included reaching impasse and delivering a strong strike mandate.
The agreement was approved by members in a ratification vote held on May 30.
