On June 11, the CUPE Community Based Organizations (CBO) Workers of Saskatchewan sector steering committee held their Annual General Meeting. The committee is pleased to welcome a new Executive.
Education support workers deserve a seat at the table
Representatives from CUPE Saskatchewan’s Education Workers’ Steering Committee met virtually with Saskatchewan’s Minister of Education Everett Hindley and Deputy Minister Clint Repski. They discussed issues facing support staff in Saskatchewan schools, and to ask for a seat at the table during discussions about improving our education system.
Taking rainbow action to build safe communities
“The power of communities” is the 2025 theme of the annual observance on May 17 of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. The theme emphasizes what union members know well: solidarity is paramount in defending and advancing human rights that include 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and safety, and ending all forms of hate, discrimination, and oppression.
CUPE 5430 members continue to advocate for action on staffing and retention in health care
Members of CUPE 5430 attended question period in the Saskatchewan Legislature on Thursday and spoke to media regarding staffing, communication, and patient safety concerns coming from the Interventional Radiology (IR) department at the Regina General Hospital (RGH). IR plays a critical role in emergency and complex care and is southern Saskatchewan’s primary trauma centre.
CUPE Education Workers Gather in Yorkton for Annual Conference
This week Saskatchewan education workers are gathering in Yorkton for their annual Education Workers’ Steering Committee (EWSC) conference. On the agenda are funding shortfalls, harassment, and violence in the workplace. Bargaining strategy is also being discussed as many locals throughout the province prepare for negotiations on the heels of job actions by their colleagues in northern Alberta.
